    3. I have Thomas McIlroy Stevenson, whose father was born in Galgorm, nr Ballymena, then emigrated to Canada 1848 as a child. Always wondered about the McIlroy connection, which had to come from Ireland, as there are no connections elsewhere. Neighbours?? 2. Pam, the scale and distances are shown in kilometres on the map. 8km is roughly 5 miles. Glenone or the glen of Owen(?) is in Co Derry/Londonderry and Portglenone is mostly now over the river in Co Antrim. Perhaps the earlier 'port'/fort was on the left or west bank of the River Bann. Nevin

    2. Pam, The names were written down by all sorts of people so it's important to look at variant forms. Also made of these names have been transcribed from poorly hand-written entries by folks who may not have been familiar with local names. Nevin

    1. [IRL-ANTRIM] Ship Lists - pre-1800
    2. We know that very little pre-1800 ships lists to America exist...but does anyone know the points of departure from Antrim for 1785 and 1790? Are there any historical references that speak of late 1700's passengers and their efforts to reach America? Two of our families, Biggers and Poag, sailed from Antrim to South Carolina in 1785 and 1790 but, regrettably, no passenger list exist. Any insight would be most helpful. Thank you. r/Steven Mitchell

    2. Lorraine & Tim Weaver
    3. Hi I read recently in a Family history magazine that the 1901 & 1911 census for Ireland will be available online in 2008. Cheers Lorraine Slightly off topic - Why is there no plan (as in organised by GRO or library archives) to put these two census's online properly? They would be so helpful to people. lol or is perhaps because it would mean they would make less money - as it would allow people to bypass these family history 'reports' from heritage centres if individual sources of records where more widely (and cheaply) available (Ulster Historical Society excepted - though still much of it is overpriced to my mind - £6 for a baptism record!!). Even just an online index would be good..... Hopefully Irish Origins might do it, though I'm surprised Ancestry hasn't. Perhaps they don't have permission? Anyway I'll stop moaning!! :0> ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to IRL-ANTRIM-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
