Many of you already know but for those who don't.... the 1851 census is on line. Try one of these http://www.census-online.com/links/Ireland/Antrim/ http://www.rootsweb.com/~irish/igsi_published/cens-sub/ant5100.htm There were, and probably still are, transcriber issues but they're a good source.. I believe there are more problems with the reliability of the version of the on line index for Griffiths valuation. There are a number of omissions for my family groups which are contained on my print and digitized sources not on the web version ........................................ gerry -----Original Message----- From: irl-antrim-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:irl-antrim-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of N.E.Parkes Sent: December 28, 2006 5:28 AM To: gregorwright@rcn.com; irl-antrim@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [IRL-ANTRIM] Officer Surname Gregeo, There are three(?) Good evening all, I'm researching my Officer line and my research has led me to Co. Antrim. My ggg-grandfather John Officer was married to Sarah Glandman (also spelled Gladman, Gladmon and even once as Gladmuir). I originally found them in St. Quivox, Wallacetown and Newton on Ayr, Ayrshire. John was listed as "pensioner" and in looking up British military links I did find a John Officer that was discharged at age 33 born Co. Antrim in Killade about 1769 which is the right time frame. Is anyone else researching the Officer surname or this line in particular in Co. Antrim? Thanks. Take care and Happy New Year. Regards, Gregor Wright Easton, PA USA

Margaret: Why don't you look into the U S Census for 1860 and also 1870 you hopefully should be able to locate them and if so if in a port city check for the ship and it's arrival. If I find any info I will send it to you. I cannot even find the ship they came on to the U.S. When he came he was married and had three children. This was late 1860 or early 1870's. Thanks Margaret
Looking for the birth of Charles Allen born 1906 Belfast I think. Have his marriage details but looking to see who his mother was.
Hi Listers Sorry about my previous mail, I hit the Reply instead of the Forward. I was forwarding Nevin's reply to my cousin Mervyn in Australia. One should not be allowed near a computer when one has had a glass of white wine in the name of Christmas. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from New Zealand. Shirlee
Hi Merv Here is a reply I received when I sent an email to the Ireland-Antrim mailing list on Rootsweb recently. This guy is a mine of information. It is the only reply so far. Have a look on the map link at the bottom. I searched the PRO website when I got home, and I found out they also had another file on the Tandarra farm to 1911. Act 19 went to 1880 and Act 20 went to 1911. If you register on line, you can order the files and go in and have a look at them within 10 days. I thought I would never leave the office today. Our office is being painted over the holidays so we have had a good clear and had to move all the furniture, etc. into the middle of each office and the painter will put dust covers over. The venetian blinds were picked up this morning to be cleaned. We are having some of our office furniture taken away and new stuff dropped the week before I go back. My boss is only going in a couple of days that week otherwise she will work at home. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Just wanting to say thanks to everyone who has helped me on my quest so far, and also to all those who may help in the future. Have a safe and festive Christmas and New Year. May the dead speak, and so may we listen. Kaaron
Hello Bill Unfortunately I have no information about your James McKinnie, however, I am researching James MCKINNEY who was born in late 1840s and lived in Airdrie Scotland around 1870 and subsequently moved to Stoneyburn. He was a miner and if he follows the trend of others may have been born in Ireland. If you receive any replies that may not be your line but could link to mine I wouls be grateful for any information. Kind regards Allan
I am looking for a Peter OWENS b. County Antrim circa 1811. A sister Margaret was born in 1828. Mother's name was Helen maiden name unknown but born in Ireland about 1791. Peter married Hannah Gilmuir/Gilmour in Ireland, date unknown but presumed to be between 1827 and 1831. Peter's son William was born in County Antrim in 1831. The family moved to Scotland (Lanarkshire) between 1831-1833. They were all listed as ironstone miners. I know this is a long-shot but thought I would see if I get lucky on someone having done research on this or a related family. Thanks in advance. Paul Wright

Yes, this location is all that I have found thus far also. In correction, Ticloy is actually in the Parish of Skerry, near the northern border of Racavan. Also, the OS Memoirs list the Racavan and Skerry parishes as lying in the "province" of Armagh, rather than "district", as I'd originally written.
