It would appear to me that it says Erin Irving and James H______ not sure what the last name is. HMM 1807. Good Eyes Required :) There are some words etched on the coin (other than it's own minted wording) that I cannot read. I think this may be partly due to the fact that the names/places are not familiar to me. I am hoping someone will be able to give me some direction re. where in Ireland or Scotland my SCOT-IRISH great-grandfather's family came from prior to arriving in Prescott (Alfred) and Renfrew (Westmeath and Pembroke) Counties, ONT Canada, in the early 1800's. A larger and fairly clear picture of the coin will appear.) It is not a perfect image--neither is the original. Hello Listers - My family is researching my great grandfather William Hilditch GAMBLE, born 18 Mar 1862 in Straid, Antrim. Died 7 July 1950 in Straid, Antrim. Married Margaret JOHNSTON, 18 July 1887 in Straid, Ballynure, Antrim. Son was Thomas Henderson Gamble born 14 Aug 1888 in Straid. We believe William's parents to be Robert Gamble, born c1836, and Isabella HENDERSON but we have no further information on them. Witness at William's wedding was Charles HILDITCH. There is some connection to the Hilditch family, but we are unsure of the circumstances. If anyone is of has researched any of these names, we'd be grateful for anything you may have uncovered. Also any thoughts on how to proceed from here would be appreciated. Regards - Duncan
Hi Hilary: If you want to try to do some research in Nova Scotia 1911 and prior you can go to http://automatedgenealogy.com/census11/Test20.jsp?surname=Gourley&province=Ontario You can switch around to the different provinces. You can also search the other earlier years as well. It is quite cold here. We had about 6-8 inches of snow fall over night and today. It rained yesterday and froze so it is difficult driving. It was also quite windy today so I have a large drift in front of my garage. Hi I am researching the Conway family of Ballymena. At present I have traced the line I am interested in back to the mrriage of Thomas Conway and Agnes or Nancy Wilson in Kirkinriola on 30 June 1862 in the 1st Presbyterian Church. Their marriage certificate shows their fathers' names as Thomas Conway and James Wilson and it is these two for whom I would like to find information. Thomas and Agnes lived in Castle Street, Ballymena and I have confirmed this from a marriage certificates for members of their family and Griffiths Valuation. Thomas appears to have been a Coachsmith. Any help would be much appreciated. Ian A C(onway) Scott

His father is named as JOHN WILSON, a draper, who was listed as deceased at the time of Thomas's marriage to Edith Diplock, of Lewisham London, in 1918 He left for England with his brother, named John. John went on to the USA where he died in 1956 & his headstone reads JOHN WALES Thomas served as a clerk in the Labour Co. during WW1 & is listed as living in Manchester at the time of his marriage.
