    1. [IRL-ANTRIM] Re Jane's Request
    2. Don Johnston
    3. G'day Jane in Moulamein and my NALIL colleague, Nevin. As I'm subscribed in Digest mode forgive me for this late input, I could be wrong Nevin but many ships also left from Moville, but possibly in differing times? Jane, I have to ask the obvious, have you google'd the Sir William Eyre? When we [my cousin and I] were trying to track down our Northern Antrim mysteries we spent considerable research time in this endeavor, ironically we received our answer from the US. Interestingly though, during this time we slowly obtained the history of the ship, it's voyage's around the world in those days and logs of the tragedies and disease, sickness and health of people aboard, this gave us a further wealth of knowledge of the conditions of the day which they must have endured and when we finally found the ship we then researched the passenger list, possibly to find if close friends [those who were marriage witnesses or witnesses to baptism's etc'] travelled with them. This further information may have been an embellishment to their new landed life. Keep researching Jane, you'll get your answer, it just might take some time but along the way you may pick up some periphial and added depth which will only make your research more exciting. As far as I know there are generally no records of passenger logs retained in NEIRE accessible records, PRONI doesn't have them either, the ships transcribers guild http://www.immigrantships.net/ might also be a good port of call? Best Wishes Don in Melbourne who will [ironically] be working in Swan Hill next Monday.

    3. I'm looking for some Craig Family relatives that left Port of Larne, County Antrim, Northern Ireland on the ship "Betty" around November 1772 and arrived in Charleston, SC February 24, 1774. I would like to find some data from the Port of Larne that might lead to the passengers on the ship "Betty" as mentioned above. We have a Captain's receipt for the passage from the Port of Larne to Charleston, SC. We have the date of entry into SC published in the SC Gazette, however no passenger list available in any SC data. Later in 1774 we begin to have records of the Craig family where they moved to Laurens Co., SC and thereafter. Unfortunately not all the members of the Craig family are of record in Laurens Co., SC. We would like to find if possible some record at the Port of Larne which might list all the passengers. Any help in directing us to a source for the Ships passenger list at the Port of Larne, County Antrim in 1773-1774 time frame would be appreciated. Thank. You.
