Hi Shirlee, Thanks. I am a member of the Swan Hill and District Historical Society but had never thought of looking through their stuff for shipping microfiche. When the kids go back to school - (2 weeks!!!!) I'll have a look. Thanks. I've looked for Wills & Probate records there, but didn't think of shipping records. I know the fiche & page number for the McEvoys - got it off of the PROV unassisted immigrants website. Hi Meg, You wouldn't perhaps have anything listed for a William Colwell/Calwell who lived in Larne and came to the US somewhere around 1851-2 with wife, Jane (Jenny), and children, William, James, John, Ann, Thomas, Hugh, Joseph, Robert, Archibald, and George (although I don't know for sure that all of them came at the same time). Hi Nevin, Looking at the dates I have, if the ship left Liverpool April 20 1857, child was born 21st May, and they arrived in Australia sometime before August 22nd when the child was registered. Hi Jane Here are the results from the PRO Vic Website. It looks as if the transcribers doubled up on the entries: Family name firstname age mth year Name of Ship port Fiche Page MCEVOY ---- INFANT WITH - JUL 1857 SIR WILLIAM EYRE B 127 010 MCEVOY ---- MRS - JUL 1857 SIR WILLIAM EYRE B 127 010 MCEVOY CHARLOTTE 18 JUL 1857 SIR WILLIAM EYRE B 127 003 MCEVOY CHARLOTTE 18 JUL 1857 SIR WILLIAM EYRE B 127 006 MCEVOY THOS 22 JUL 1857 SIR WILLIAM EYRE B 127 003 MCEVOY THOS 22 JUL 1857 SIR WILLIAM EYRE B 127 006 The fiche might be copies of the original documents which will show which port it left from. I noticed by your address in a previous email that you live in the rural area of NSW. Most Libraries have a family history section, so you will have to ring around to find out which Library has a family history section with microfiche and microfilm readers.
