    3. I surely did not intend for Sharon to think that I felt she was stupid or that I was 'talking down' to her. On her 2nd posting she gave the data on Elizabeth Bowles' marriage. Therefore, I thought that she might have the same information for Elizabeth's siblings. It still is not clear if the family of Robert Bowles moved to Manchester with him or if they stayed in Ireland. I sincerely apologize for any ill feelings. I do stand by my requesting people to use WHO WHAT WHEN and WHERE when they post a query seeking help. It makes it much easier to assist them. I realize that many people cannot supply all of the data for those catagories but every piece of information helps us help them. Regards, Bettye

    3. Well from what my Uncle had mentioned was that Robert Bowles and his brother came from Germany, and were Iron Horse Dealers, then opened shop as boot makers. But not knowing the spellings of the last names makes it almost impossible to find anything. I do know Elizabeth Bowles? married John "Jack" Fullerton maybe around 1932 or slightly before that and they lived in Dungannon. I guess I will have to try pry more information out of my Uncle. This is so tough to try to research at a distance with no Census available to search through. Thanks for trying. I appreciate it> . My Grandmother was Elizabeth Bowles?? Spelling of last name is uncertain, but she was born about 1897, and her father was Robert Bowles and mother was either Costley or Costello first name unknown. All the information that I know is that Robert had a shoe repair business for a time before leaving for Manchester England. Sorry to say I cant get exact spellings of last names as my Uncle cant read or write so any record would be a guess with him being informant. There were 4 other childern to Robert and his wife, a Nellie, Bella, Johnny, and Robert. I just dont know where to find anything to help me. I am hoping maybe someone on the list might find something to help me. I'm totally out of ideas. Really sorry not much to go on here. If anyone has Ideas to help, let me know. Connor is only a few kms away form it, so they may know what happened to the Church in the Parish of Connor. 3. Thanks for that idea but Nevin sent me a death for Margaret Black Smith and now I think that I've found her living with her father in 1911. I found a tree on ancestry giving her father's name and that fits with a family in Co Down in 1911. Seems she lost her husband and son in 1900 and lived for another 33 years. 3. Hi Nevin Thankyou very much for the legal notice and obituary. After I'd posted the email I also came across the legal notice, after finding out from another article in the Belfast News that he was actually Robert Strafford Smith but he seemed to be known by both names. I'm interested to know where you found the obituary. His father was a very well known doctor in Belfast and had his obituary in The Lancet. I also came across Strafford's marriage in London in 1899 so I've had a successful evening. Thanks for your help Barbara Perth Australia > OBITUARY, > R. I am looking for the obits on my husband's great-grandparents who were both born in Belfast and died in Chicago, IL.   Matthew King, born about 1854  ~ died: 03-13-1898 Sarah Jane Mawhinney King, born: 08-15-1854  ~  died: 01-28-1913   In their Chicago Tribune obits it was stated ... "Belfast papers please copy".   I'm hoping their obits shed some light on their families in Ireland especially siblings.   They were married on 08-15-1874, in the Reformed Presbyterian church in Doagh Parish, county of Antrim.  From their marriage record I found out that Matthew's father's name was Hugh King and Sarah's father's name was Samuel Mawhinney.  That's all I know about them going backwards.    Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.   Sandy Oddie/Orland Park, IL - USA
