My mother was friends with a Sally Ahern she lived on East Broadway. Ahern Park which was named for her grandfather or great grand father was a politician It was a triangle shaped located at the junction of Grand Street and East Broadway. Today there is still a little piece of the park left that bears the Name Francis Ahern Park. This is info from my cousin who lives on the lower East side still.
