Was the Emigrant bank located in NYC or Brooklyn? Found my greatgrandfather, Patrick Higgins', account listed along with other good information. I would like to try to locate him in the Brooklyn 1865 census record IF the street he lived on (Washington St) was in Brooklyn (there's also one in NYC). Thought that the location of the bank might throw some light on whether he lived in NYC or Brooklyn. Also, need to locate records for the ship he arrived on in 1863, the "Universe". Where is the best place to start looking? I am overjoyed as this family has been a brickwall for many, many years. Pat
