    3. Greetings from The beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota! I am new to this list but am posting the same thing as on the NYC list so I hope some of you who are on multiple lists don't mind. My name is Kathleen O'Donnell Grone -- I live in Deadwood and live in the midst of the infamous Sturgis Motorcycle Rally or "Bike Week" as they call it here. The bikes have already begun to arrive although the big week isn't until August. I have only lived her since August -- Other names I am researching in relation to the O'DONNELLS are HARRIGAN, DINEEN, KERNER (a german name), CREEN, JAMES, MINER (not positive about this connection to Creen), and WEIR I really want to learn more about my family-- my ancestors. I have been to NY and NYC several times and study maps and such. I love the research and the history. My father Edwin Allen "Allen" who is now a retired college professor in Nebraska still has a lot of relatives in NY. Somewhat Gen related -- looking for family -- My Dad had a brother Eugene who passed away. Eugene had two sons and we believe a daughter. After Eugene died the mother took the kids and literally disappeared. My grandfather Lester and his second wife, Dorothy looked for them for years. They hired investigators, etc. to no avail. They did trace one of the boys to the Navy in Florida years ago. We would love to meet this family so if any of you know of a Vincent or Eugene O'D we would love to hear of them. They were born sometime between 1948-1957. We think their mother's name was Jennie but aren't positive. I have a lot of family pictures, old and new on my myfamily.com site if anyone is interested. Some are of people I am not sure about. Parents of my dad and Eugene (Sr) are Lester A and Isabell M. Creen O'D -- As far as genealogy I will share a little more O'D and others info and if anyone can help that would be great. My outline will be at the end. James J. O'Donnell's second wife was Charlotte "Lottie" Kerner. The Kerner family ran a bakery and pub. A distant cousin of my father's who is still living today remembers seeing a photo of the pub in NYC. I think it was Kerner's pub owned by a Philip Kerner and/or a I am thinking. I would love to see a picture of the pub and or bakery. James J (some say it is Joseph) was a 'pipe closer'. What is a "pipe closer"- ?? From his daughter Lottie (named after her mother). "James attended parachial school until the 6th grade when he went to work for his father in the Asbesto buisness. He was not a very strong Catholic but was a member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Health Catholic Church. After Mary Harrigan O'Donnell died James J. married Charlotte Kerner Creen - in 1923. While married to Charlotte, James became more active in community activities. He was an executive board member of the Benevolent Protection Society of Elks i.e. Elks Club (I have had trouble proving this). He also belonged to several Irish secret societys such as the Finnians (I have no way of knowing how to prove this). James died on his way home from work at the age of 51. He is buried in Holy Cross Cemetary in Brooklyn, New York. Information on Mary HARRIGAN- Mary O'Donnell died on Jan 28, 1914 (five days after Leroy was born) at 4:00 p.m. at 216 Hoyt Street, a tenement in Brooklyn, Death Certificate number 2674. An autopsy was performed and the cause of death was asphyxia due to gas poisoning. Details of medical examiner's report not included. No personal information was provided or known to the county medical examiner. She was buried in a pauper's grave at the County Farm on Feb 5, 1914 by the Dept. of Public Charities. (This death was investigated as a murder or suicide but nothing came of it.) Regarding Charlotte Kerner Creen O'Donnell- St John Cemetery - Mrs. Lottie O'Donnell, registered owner of Section 25, Range V, gravet site No. 025, is buried there. I mean he looks like my Dad did 50 years ago or so! For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed, says the LORD, who has compassion on you.
