    3. I'm researching my wifes, mothers family, HANLEY. Her GGrandfather, Joseph HANLEY, came to America, and married in NYC. His bride was previously married and I have not found out what it was. They had two children that were born in NY, Catherine HANLEY 1863 and Ann 1869. They moved to Cranston, RI, and their son Joseph was born in 1870. Would civil records be created from these births? Where would catholic baptismal records be kept? Thank you...........Roy Michel

    3. Hi Ron. Those records would be at the church they were baptised in. Since 1863 it's possible that whatever parish it was might have merged with other parishes as the population of the area increased. Copies of the birth records are available at the RI State Archives. I live in Providence, RI and If you would like I can do a look up for you. 3. Thank you for the offer, but I have already researched the RI State Archives for the birth of my wifes Grandfather circa. 1870, Cranston, RI. They have no record, and told me that was not surprising. I'm looking for the info on the sisters born in NYC. ----- Original Message ----- From: "bob ryan" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, May 24, 2005 4:28 PM Subject: Re: [IRISH-NYC] Surname HANLEY > Hi Ron.
