    1. Hanleys in NYC

    3. Roy, In the 1860 Census for Kings County, NY(Brooklyn) there were 116 Hanleys. In New York County (Manhattan) there were 242 Hanleys. I see a Hanley family in Cranston RI in the 1870 Census, but the children were born in RI. At this time period, New York was exploding with Irish immigrants and there were enclaves all over Manhattan and Brooklyn, not to mention Williamsburg. RC Churches were everywhere. You need to have a neighborhood to start looking for the details. Do you have any names and approximate birth dates to work with? Be glad to try. Sheila MacAvoy Block

    3. Thank you for your help. I have contacted the only catholic church that was in Cranston at that time and they have Baptismal records for my wifes grandfather. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sheila Block" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, May 26, 2005 10:54 PM Subject: [IRISH-NYC] Hanleys in NYC > Roy, > > In the 1860 Census for Kings County, NY(Brooklyn) there were 116 > Hanleys.
