According to the NYC municipal archives website, these two types of records are available on microfilm. Has anyone ever accessed any of these records, either in person or by mail? I am trying to determine what might be the best way to view records for: 1) 1885 - a criminal assault with possibly death resulting, where the Coroner took a deposition from the victim prior to his possible death when his condition was termed "fatal" 2) 1889 - a court case where an officer of the Children's Society took children away from the parents and a hearing was held in Harlem Police Court to determine if parents were fit. The children were sent to St. Anne's home, but a writ of habeas corpus was issued to return the children Any help or suggestions regarding how best to access these records would be welcome. Thank goodness we had habeas corpus in those days. Sure wish we could have it restored now, it was such a great Right in our Bill of Rights and we've lost it! ----- Original Message ----- From: Sue Clement To: irish-new-york-city@rootsweb.com Sent: Saturday, November 17, 2007 11:07 AM Subject: [IRISH-NYC] Municipal Archives questions - Court and Coroner'srecords According to the NYC municipal archives website, these two types of records are available on microfilm.
