Hi, I am new to this list. I am researching my GrGrGrandfather Daniel Buckley born 1820 in Ireland, his wife, Annie, children, John, Daniel, Solomon, Annie and Mary. The family was listed in the 21st Ward 8th District in NYC in 1870. His children were born in NYC (two that I know of settled in Philadelphia later in their lives). I would like to get the baptismal records especially for his daughters. They were Roman Catholics. Can anyone inform me of the procedures for getting them? Does the Archdiocese have a Historical Society or do you go directly to the Church? If so, can anyone tell me which Parish they might have belonged to? I am unfamiliar with New York research.
