    3. Hi Genie, I think the National Geographic program is research, much like the Sorenson program. I took the Y test a couple of months back. I really don't have any interest in the mt test. My Irish ancestors arrived here during the famine and I've been unable to locate any until the 1870 census, and those were my gg grandparents. So, I took the test in hopes of eventualy connecting with other descendants of their siblings and also to try and pinpoint a location in Ireland where the family came from. I did have a relatively close match with someone...a reasonably good chance that we are connected 10-15 generations back...surprisingly, it was the brother-in-law of a subscriber to this list.!! The one who actually suggested I get the test. I guess the DNA thing is just another fad until it works for you.
