The neighborhood was safe and respectable. Having 7 children in an apartment would certainly be difficult and 98th street was a less desirable street as it was next to the NYC Bus Yard and a power substation. The entire block was torn down to make way for housing projects which were used to break neighborhoods so new development could begin.
