Greetings All. With a letter from Patricia Sears, MP Scott Reid (Lanark - Carleton) loses his Red X of opposition and is awarded a Gold Tick of Support. Scoreboard totals currently stand at: House of Commons For: 162 Against: 3 Non-committal: 60 No answer: 74 Senate For: 36 Against: 3 Non-committal: 18 No answer: 40 With the long awaited announcement that the Government will introduce legislation regarding access to 92-year old Census records we have taken a giant step forward. Our job, however, is not yet completed. We need to continue to write low-key letters to our elected and appointed officials requesting, and encouraging, support for legislation that gives us exactly the same unrestricted access to records after 1901 that we currently have for those up to 1901. Additionally, we do not wish to see on the schedules of future Census any check-box option that would create a very fragmented history for those seeking information in the future. Before writing, check the Scoreboards to learn the position of those to whom you write. Thank those with Gold Ticks for their past support and request that they continue that support. For the others, politely and respectfully request that they give full consideration to the issues relating to Census and seek their supportive response. Do not forget to forward to me any responses received that differ from the positions shown on the Scoreboard. Without your input I have no way of updating the information shown there. Thank you all for your support. With your continued support we will achieve the goal we seek. Happy Hunting. Gordon A.
