Brooklyn Standard Union - June 1920 St. Francis Awards Degrees toTen Sixty-First Commencement Exercises of College Held at Academy of Music Prize Winners Announced Commercial and High School Department Graduates St. Francis College held its sixty-first Commencement exercises at the Academy of Music last night. There were three awards for the high school students. The Brother Isadore Memorial Medal for excellence in Cchristian Doctrine was awarded to Patrick J. O'DAY. The Brother Luke Memorial Medal for excellence in mathematics went to Robert C. VEIT, and a gold medal for the highest average in regents' examinationsfor the four years of the high school course went to Saro M. CALI. Edward Vincent MELSHA, who received a degree, won the McCusker Memorial Prize of $25 in gold for excellence in mental philosophy. Joseph F. GRAUEL received $20 in gold for excellence in apologetics for the senior class. The winner of the sophomoreclass of the Brother Paul Memorial Prize for apologetics was Hugh J. KENNEDY, while Allan MILLETT won the freshman prize for apologetics.This is known as the Brother Jerome Memorial medal for the best English essay.
