In fact, as recently as the late 1950's, during college, my one cousin had a summer job as a 'gandy dancer'!! Hard work. Haven't quite figured out how the name came about. Walking the tracks, making reparirs, swinging a sledgehammer to knock in spikes --- what's that got to do with 'dancing'?? <g> Maureen
