    3. Actually, it is a very common word used in print, both in annuls of history and in tombstones. It means "widow" but we have heard what is more the Biblical meaning of the word. You have to remember that many periods in history took meanings from the Bible very literally and they believed it very seriously. The point is, you need to know what this word means if you are venturing back in history. It is an important word in the genealogical vocabulary. Best regards.
