The article mentioned one incident where the crew members went below decks and actually molested some of these women. Apparently this one incident caused an outcry among the immigrant societies who demanded that single women travel with an older male relative to "protect them." I don't know if their warnings were heeded. But it does raise another danger of the voyage that never crossed my mind. Take care, Tracy
