Ellen Barry REGAN was born in Ireland between 1838 & 1842. Recently received info suggests her birthplace was either Timoleague, Co. Cork - or Cobh, Co Cork. Her parents were Nellie BARRY and Daniel REGAN. Other records suggest Ellen had at least one brother - who had a daughter born about 1858 in NY. Ellen Barry REGAN came to the US before 1860. She married Richard J. Dewhurst of Lowell, MA before 1860 - and by 1860 they were living on Washington St in NYC. Richard Dewhurst died in 1870 - leaving Ellen with 5 young children. She moved to Green point (Norman Ave, Calyer St.) with the children and took in boarders. Her mother Nellie BARRY (REGAN) also came to NY, but I've nothing to indicate that her father Daniel REGAN made the voyage.
