    1. [IRISH-NYC] Calvary Cemetery Burial Records 1848 - 1851

    3. About 3 weeks ago I sent a letter to Calvary Cemetery requesting burial records for a Irish ancestor buried at the cemetery on Dec 27, 1851. I am still waiting for their reply. (By the way, Calvary will not look up burial records pre 1860 by phone call request. They say they must be sent a written request for pre 1860 burials. They say that the pre 1860 records are in the basement and that it takes longer to research.) One person on this email list has mentioned that Calvary burial records from 1848 to 1851 are missing. I just wanted to check and see if anyone else requesting burial records for that time period also came up empty. Is there a book on Old Calvary that lists some of the burials from this period? 3. I have sent a letter to Calvary because my great-grandfather's death certificate from the city of new york that came to me as a part of his civil war pension file stated that he was buried there in 1889. I have received a reply stating that he is not there. What am I doing wrong?. None of the research that I have done so far, including the pension records, tells me exactly where he was born. Would cemetary records be more enlightening?
