Looking for any and all information regarding the following people: George DUFFY, b. abt. 1825, Ireland, do not know parents/siblings names. Do not know when he came to the US. married Catharine MCNALLY, b. 1839, Ireland. She came to the US in 1847, on the Patrick Henry with her mother, Bridget and 4 sisters, Rose, Mary, Winifred, and Anne/Ellen. George and Catharine are listed as divorced in 1880. Cannot find Catharine after 1870, when still married to George. I do not know when or where either George or Catharine died. George and Catharine's children are: Hugh, George, Mary Alice, Rose, Thomas Francis and Francis 1) Hugh DUFFY, born 1857, NY (listed as a musician in 1880) Do not know if/who Hugh married, or when or where he died. 2)George DUFFY, born 1859, NY (listed as an artist in 1880). Do not know if/who George married, or when or where he died. 3)Mary Alice DUFFY, born April 10, 1864, NY, died 11-1915, NY. Mary often went by the name Alice as a young girl. Mary married John J. CARROLL, b. 1868, NY, died 5-1928, NY. Both are buried in Calvary Cemetery, NY. They had the following children: George Francis, John J., Joseph, Matthew, Margaret, Rose, Kate, Lawrence, and two others, don't know their names- A) George Francis CARROLL, b. June 1, 1885, NY, died 4-1949, NY, married Florence OLM, b. 10-1899, NY, died 9-1955, NY. They did not have any children. Both are buried in Calvary Cemetery, NY, but in separate plots. B) John J. CARROLL, b. 4-1887, NY, never married, died 6-1941, NY. C) Joseph CARROLL, b. 4-1887, NY, died 3-1888. NY. do not know where he is buried. D) Matthew CARROLL, b. 12 - 1882, NY, married a cousin of Florence OLM's (brother George's wife) had two boys, both given to orphanage when wife took off, do not know their names, or when they were born. Also do not know when/where Matthew died or is buried. E) Margaret CARROLL, b. 8-1899, NY, died 7-1974,NY, married Herbert ATKINSON, b. 1-1898, NY, died 11-1944, NY. Had one child- Alice Margaret ATKINSON, b. 1919, NY, still living, married Charles McADAMS, b. 5-1903, NY, died 4-1977, NY. They had 3 children: Charles - deceased, Allison - deceased and Robin, still living. Margaret and Herbert ATKINSON are buried in Calvary Cemetery, NY F) Lawrence Delmore CARROLL, b. 8-1903, NY, never married, died 12-1943, NY, buried in Calvary Cemetery, NY. Mary Alice DUFFY and John Joseph CARROLL also had 2 other sets of twins that died in infancy, Rose and Katie, and a boy and a girl. 4) Rose DUFFY, born 1866, NY, marriage possibilities: JOHNSON, had one son Charlie Johnson, or: Patrick WALSH, had 2 sons, Thomas Francis and John WALSH, both died young. There could have been other children born to them. Do not know for sure who Rose married. Family member believes it was JOHNSON, but I have found a family buried in Calvary with the 2 Walsh boys, whose parents are listed as Rose Duffy and Patrick Walsh, and also buried there is a Thomas F. Duffy, who may be my Rose Duffy's brother (the only inconsistency with this man being my great grandfather is that the man buried is listed as being born in Ireland, which my Thomas Duffy was not, and if this is his sister's plot, you would think she knew where he was born) 5) Thomas Francis DUFFY, born 6-1869, NY, died 1935 or 36, NY, married Elizabeth DUNN, born 3-1872, Cork, Ireland, died 10-1949, NY. (my great grandparents) Elizabeth is buried in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, NY. Not sure where Thomas is buried. (see above about Rose) They had 3 children: a)Mary Elizabeth DUFFY (aka. Mae Agnes) b. 1897, NY, died 1975, NY, married William Vincent LONERGAN, b. 1890, NY, died 1934, NY, They had 2 children: Robert James LONERGAN, still living, married Elizabeth MURPHY, deceased, they had 4 children: Robert, Scott, Michelle and William, all still living, and William Vincent LONERGAN, still living, never married. b)Thomas Francis DUFFY (my grandfather) b. 8-1898, NY, died 3-1980, NY. married Emily SINGER, b. 7-1903, NY, died 8-1981, NY. both buried in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, NY. They had two children: Thomas Edward DUFFY (my father) b. 1923, NY, died 11-1981, married Katharine HELLMANN, b. 7-1927, KY, died 12-1997, NY. They had 5 children: Marie, Barbara, Laura, Marjorie and Thomas, all still living. Jeanne Therese DUFFY - b. 1928, NY, still living, married Robert A. Loeffler (aka Abraham Leffler) b. 1924, still living, they had 5 children: Robert, Lois, Edward, John and Patricia, all still living. c) Beatrice Marion DUFFY, b. 1902, died 1901, never married. 6) Francis DUFFY, b. 1872, do not know if/who he married, or when or where he died. There is a story that one of the DUFFY sons of George and Catharine MCNALLY DUFFY was a custodian for the Brooklyn Bridge, and I think it was either George or Francis. Thanks for any help!
