Anyone have any luck in getting information from St. Vincent de Paul in Brooklyn? I have been trying for years to get them to look up information but to no avail. They are so very pleasant but no one there seems to have the time no matter how much money I send...I am sick about it as I know that my family lived in that area for many decades. Any suggestions? I live in Sacramento... Pam Researching: KING, McCUE, BRIDGEWOOD, SMITH, SHANNON, MURPHY, O'CONNELL, McDANIEL
Me again! I have a John SHANNON b. Dec 1863 in New York married to Nora Lynch, daughter of Martin and Bridget "Delia" Lynch and living at 547 West 26th Street in Manhattan with children Della (1889), Martin (1891), John (1893) and Grace (1897) in the 1900 Federal Census. The Shannons were my dad's favorite cousins. They lived in the same building from the time my dad was born (1904) until 1909 when Dad's mother died and Grandpa took the family to live near his relatives in Weehawken, NJ. My aunt and uncle had good friends named Rhea and Vincent McCUE who lived in Brooklyn and later (maybe 1950s) moved to Long Island, I believe. My cousins would have photos of them from their wedding albums, I'm sure. Hello Maureen, I would love to find aconnection to Mary KING SHANNON (b July1859 Brooklyn) she was my ggrandfather's sister. I know she lived at least until 1932 in Manhatten. I don't have her husband's name. Her sister Sarah or Sadie lived at 231 E. 72nd Manhatten in 1932. Now Mary King Shannon's parents names were Francis KING and Bridget McCue. Most of this family lived in Williamsburg, after arriving from who knows where in Ireland, from 1850 to 1908. After that I find them in Manhatten and the Bronx. Any possiblities?
