How far back do your records go. I'm not familiar enough with history to know about St. John's Church/. My ancestors lived in NYC circa 1865-1885. Names are Collins: Daniel Francis, Jerome J., Bernard A. Many thanks for bothering you with this. Sincerely, L. D. Hi, this will show how vague an answer can be but I think Parnell was some sort of Irish political hero it would depend on your Parnell's dob it the parents named him after the hero or if it was a family name. I have seen the name Kenney in Galway/Roscommon area could be other places also. ( There may or may not be Kennys in my family they were from the Creagh area of Galway.(I have two set of family records one the mother is an O'Neil the other the mother is a Kenny. Family trad had O'Neil but the children of Kenny match the known siblings of our family. No wonder I am confused). Best wishes,Ann
Don Must have missed the initial e-mails about St John the Evangelist R.C. church in Manhattan so do not know what the discussion has been . My parents met through St John's Club and I have a program from their Hits and Bits presentation of 1923. It does not say the address of the church, nor does it say the " Evangelist" but the show was at Palm Garden on 58th Street. There are lots of pictures of groups of members, many labeled well. One of Mom's group lists her name but I cannot pick her out in the line up I would be willing to try to find a member for you if that would be helpful slainte sheila
I am looking for Walter Parnell Kenney. Your Edward Hayden may have lived at that address in 1883, but that doesn't mean he was there in 1880. As for the 1883 directory, information for that year was collected in 1881/1882. Let's assume that the 1883 directory was distributed in February 1883. It may very well have been printed in August of 1882 - with a deadline on information to have been compiled several months earlier of that year. That collection of information may even have started in December of 1881. Mario

I am hoping that SKS might have access to the NYC Directory for 1883 and could look up the name "HAYDEN, Edward and/or Mary." An 1883 obituary for Edward HAYDEN includes a reference to "627 W. 52nd Street NYC." According to a list member, the 1880 Census for ED 509 (page 563D and 564A) shows that 16 families lived in this building, but no Hayden was listed. I hope to determine if (a) the HAYDEN's moved to this address and were living there in 1883 or (b) if this might be the address at which the accident occurred. ** TIA **

Sorry, don't have the directory, but only a suggestion that you also check a little before and after that date. From what I understand, to compile those directories, people were paid to go door to door and record the info. Then, it was all compiled and went to press .... since this is before computers, etc., by the time the directory was published, the info contained in it could be close to a year old. If you're looking for 1883 info ... it could easily be in the 1884 directory. I tried to pin down the year a ggrandfather died, he was listed, as it turns out in the year he did die. The following year, it gave a listing for his wife, as his widow. It was easy, since they owned the house and didn't move ... just had to check the names. If your couple moved around a lot, they may even come up missing in the 1883 directory. That happened more than once to me, that's why I suggest you check more than the exact year you're interested in.

I am looking for JANE MIDDLETON that was born in New York. She married PETER KING KENNEY. They lived here in St. Louis, Missouri and their children were all born there. One of the children was named WALTER PARNELL KENNEY. Walter was born January 1882 and died February 1941. I am assuming that PARNELL is also a surname somewhere along the line. He married JENNY SANDERS Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Sherry Corder

They are all Heroes to me.

Forwarded from Budarz@aol.com : September 11, 2002 is soon approaching. On that day, please wear red, white and blue to work or school to show your support for those who lost their lives on 9~11~01 and to honor the heroes who worked to save them and the families left behind. At noon your time on September 11, 2002, no matter where you are or what you are doing, stop, put your hand on your heart, and say the Pledge of Allegiance out loud or to yourself and say a prayer for our nation. If all of us do this together in every time zone around the world, we will have a powerful chain of thoughts surrounding us. Please keep this going to your friends and family. By September 11, 2002 hopefully enough people will have read this and will join together in unity. God Bless the U.S.A.
