    3. Bob, Dwight Street bisects Red Hook Housing but some of it extends both sides of it. The 1915 NY State enumeration list my uncle, Robert Walsh and his family at 70 Dikeman Street. 2. Message forwarded from [email protected] Good Day to you all- I am new to the list. I am reseaching my father's family and I am hoping to find more information. It seems for awhile Michael and Mary lived on or near Elm Street which isn't to far from 'Hell's Kitchen' from what I understand. Mary had seven children with only two surviving. Some say five died before she came to NY- other's some died on the boat, some died here. But the census I found does confirm that five children died, regardless of where. Two lived. My line runs through their son James J. O'Donnell. I hope to find some connections-- Also, can anyone tell what what Inishkeel is like??Family stories say that Michael was run out of Ireland because he stole a horse (some say he ate it) and was going to be hung. I always wonder if there was any truth to the story. I also found some Dineens living near Inishkeel although family says she came from Limerick or her family did. Thank you and blessings to you all, Kathleen O'Donnell Grone, Black Hills of SD PS- if this line looks a bit confusing it is because the father (James) and son (Lester) married mother (Charlotte- Lottie) and daughter (Isabell) -- it happens I guess! 3. Roy, Couldn't find a Catherine and Ann in the 1870 Census for either NY or RI. Did find a family in RI in 1880 in Burrillville which is in Providence County but up near the Mass border, as follows: John Hanley, 62,Head, works in Woolen Mill, b Ire, parents Ireland, can read and write Eliza Hanley, 58, Wife, keeping house, b. Ire, parents Ireland, can read and write. Catherine Hanley, 17, daughter, in Woolen Mill, b. NY, parents Ireland, cannot read or write Ann Hanley, 11, daughter, no occup, b. NY, parents Ireland, cannot read or write. John J. 9, son, at school, b. RI, parents Ireland, attended school w/in year, can read and write. Using that family I tried to go backwards to 1870 without any luck. There is a John Hanley in the 1850 Census in Kings County Ward 6 (Brooklyn), age 26 with an older woman, Bridget Hanley, age 55,could be his mother, he is a day laborer. Both born Ireland. There is a John Hanley age 30 in the same census year in New York County (Manhattan) appears to be single, no related family with him, a hosteler (teamster?) living with a stable owner. Also born Ireland. Both of these men seem to be the right age to be the John Hanley in the 1880 Census. But 1860 and 70 are no help so far. Do you know the names of Catherine and Ann's parents? 3. Hello, My name is Kathleen O'Donnell-Grone. I don't know if my first message went through and I hope I signed up for the right list. My father is from Brooklyn, NY -- grew up primarily at St. Vincents orphanage as his mother died very young. His father was a NYC policeman, a mounty. I am researching this family. Family history says Mary was born in Limerick but there are Dineens near Inishkeel. If anyone has been to that area I would love to hear about it. Michael and Mary had seven children, with only two living. My line in through James J. O'Donnell married to Mary Harrigan. Mary also died very young and tragic. If anyone can help me on history that would be wonderful. I am also interested in the history of the area they lived in in NYC. I am looking for information on Michael and Mary Dineen O'Donnell. 3. I'm having a difficult time finding my wifes family, HANLEY, in NYC records. Was there a favorite catholic church that the Irish joined? Also was there a heavily settled Irish community that may hold the information I'm looking for? The period of time was 1850's to 1869. They then moved to Cranston, RI. Thank you...........Roy Michel

    3. Could you look up Winifred NOON, she was born 1818 in Ireland. Her parents were Patrick and Ann Noon, both born in Ireland. Winifred according to her death record came to NY in 1839 at 21 years old. But according to the 1900 New York City census she came to NY in 1830 at 12 years old. She married Martin WHITE also born in Ireland according to 1860 and 1870 New York Census. They had two children, Charles born 1851 and Julia born 1858. Julia is my husband's great grandmother. Thank you. Yvonne
