    1. [IRISH-NYC] Buckley
    2. Susan Regan
    3. Hi, I am new to this list. I am researching my GrGrGrandfather Daniel Buckley born 1820 in Ireland, his wife, Annie, children, John, Daniel, Solomon, Annie and Mary. The family was listed in the 21st Ward 8th District in NYC in 1870. His children were born in NYC (two that I know of settled in Philadelphia later in their lives). I would like to get the baptismal records especially for his daughters. They were Roman Catholics. Can anyone inform me of the procedures for getting them? Does the Archdiocese have a Historical Society or do you go directly to the Church? If so, can anyone tell me which Parish they might have belonged to? I am unfamiliar with New York research. Thank you. Susan Regan

    2. Patti
    3. I have marriage info (March of 1899 in Brooklyn, NY) that I found on a passport application for my great Aunt, Wilhelmina HACHT and her groom Robert SCHALKENBACH. All attempts to locate the actual marriage record have failed. Do not know religious affiliation, but doubt that they were Catholic. Both were German. I strongly suspect that the marriage was not performed in a church -- a civil service seems more likely. All suggestions gratefully accepted. 3. I don't know about 1905 but in the 40's, some of my high school and college friends drove to Elkton, Maryland to marry. Apparently an immediate marriage license followed by an immediate Justice of the Peace marriage with no parental permission required. Also, no questions as to whether the bride was pregnant or not! 2. In my experience it depends on if someone has ordered the films and they are housed permanently at the LDS that you work at. They usually keep a list of what is there and can check it for you. I've used some at the Plantation LDS and also Leesburg. What part of Florida are you in? I hadn't realized that the ordering price of the film had gone up. It's been awhile since I've ordered any. But don't forget the fact that during the 1800's the census taker probably didn't goany further than the 8th grade, and mostly less than that. He/she had to rely on spelling what they heard, whether it was correct or not. The other half of mistakes were made this way. And then there were those who were hiding members of their families or just didn't want to share with the government for whatever reasons. Genie Coats
