William Knox, b 27 JUL 1783 to Thomas Knox and Martha Stewart of Ballyskeagh, Co. Tyrone, Ireland, d. 7 JUL 1870 in Allegheny City (now called Pittsburg), Pennyslvania. He married Eleanor Grange of Boston, dau. of John Grange and Elizabeth Reed Grange. The couple had eleven children, seven of whom survived them. The surviving children were: Thomas Lyon Knox of Taylor County, Iowa; Mary Ann Sandford Knox; Eleanor Knox, John Lewis Lyon Knox; Martha Jane Elizabeth Knox, James Patterson Knox, Robert Hamilton Knox. Children who predeceased him were: Elizabeth Martha Knox, George Cumming Knox, George Washington Knox, and William Knox. William Knox was a stone mason who lived in New York and Juniata Co., PA.
