I am sorry to inform you that the information I gave you a couple of days ago was not completely correct. Yes, if you live in NY you can get a library card from the NYPL and be able to access many of their databases from your home computer but Ancestry.com is not one of them. A very nice person in NY went to the library and checked and was told this. The website is a bit confusing and I didn't check it out fully before passing on the information.
