Hello, I am trying to determine if there are any naming standards for Irish families as there are for other ethnic groups, such as: First son - named after father's father First daughter - named after mother's mother ETC. Also, I am trying to confirm that the seventh son of a seventh son of Irish descent was commonly given the nickname "Doc." My ancestor is called "Doc," and he was no doctor. Someone told me a long time ago that this was a nickname for a seventh son of a seventh son. Can anyone confirm this or give me ideas about how to answer this question?
