    3. There is no evidence to suggest that any of those named on the Oath of Allegiance list knew or spoke Irish. The Oath of loyalty to the United Irishmen was also in english and names were recorded by the administrators in the same form as the Bunbury Oath. Far from Bunbury refusing to use the Irish form it appears he wrote down the names as they were pronounced.
