    3. SNIPPET: As a living memorial to the late President John F. KENNEDY, who died some months after his long-remembered visit to Ireland in 1963, a group of Irish-Americans proposed the setting up of the JFK Arboretum in Co. Wexford. Located by Slieve Coillte in the countryside near New Ross, Co. Wexford, not far from his great-grandfather's birthplace at Dunganstown (www.kennedyhomestead.com), the Memorial Park covers over 600 acres and has over 4,500 plant types from temperate regions. Here you will find rhododendrons, azaleas, heathers and magnificent autumn colouring provided by over 170 varieties of maple. There are over 200 forest plots, nature trails, signposted walks and a miniature railway which operates during the summer months. A visitor centre provides information, audio visual display and the all-important cup of tea; the park is accessible for disabled and the summit of Slieve Coille, reachable by road, will reward visitors with a glorious panorama of six counties. More info: www.heritageireland.ie. Directions: on R733 south of New Ross towards Duncannon, signposted.
