Pat, Thanks so much for providing this valuable and interesting information about Tithe Applotments along with thanks for all the information you post that is so helpful to so many of us family researchers. I have a question that you or someone else, I hope, might be able to provide an answer....... My gr gr grandfather, James Mason, is listed in the 1855 Griffith's valuation in the townland of Athlunkard, St. Patrick's Parish, Limerick Union, Co. Clare. Is there a way to determine if either of the James Masons listed in Tithe Applotment of 1823-1837 (see below) could be my James? Mason, Ja's townland: Ballinahinch, parish: Kilnoe, Co. Clare Mason, James townland: Snata Cooper, parish: Kilseily, Co. Clare There is also a James Mason in Castleconnell, Co. Limerick/Tipperary(?) which is very near to Athlunkard, Co. Clare where I know my family originated. I ask about Co. Limerick/Tipperary because James' son, Matthew, my gr grandfather was married (1870) in Newport, Co. Tipperary. Thanks for any information.
