    3. Boston Daily Globe Boston, MA 11 December 1900 Boston's Oldest Hatter Mr. Thomas Turner is without doubt the oldest hatter at the present time in active employment in Boston, and has served as a journeyman hatter longer than any in the city. The Globe man found Mt. Turner busily at work at his trade, when he called upon him at his place of business in Province st. Mr. Turner was born in the village of Costello Bay in County Galway, Ireland, 67 years ago, and came with his parents to this country in 1848, settling in Boston, where Mr. Turner has lived ever since. He was 15 years old when he came here, and recalled many incidents in the history of Boston in the early '50s, and spoke of the many great changes that have taken place in the time that has elapsed since then. Mr. Turner has in his long career as a hatter had the care of the head covering of many famous men. Mr. Turner is married and lives in Charlestown and attends to his business regularly every day.
