Hello ! My heritage is half English/Irish on my paternal side, and half Irish/German on my maternal side. I would like to have the following word below carved in wood for the breakfast nook in my new lake home to honor the German side: (taken from a German restaurant newsletter) "We do have a handful of German items on the menu and hope you'll join us for some Gemütlichkeit*. *if you're not familiar with the word Gemütlichkeit, it's a hard word to translate. It describes a feeling of coziness, a sense of belonging, cheerfulness, friendliness, warmth, and a feeling of overall comfort and happiness. " Would someone supply me with a Gaelic word that has the same definition as the German word above, as I would like to have another carving of that word. Thank You, Cece
I think the best word for this is probably just CAIRDEAS. It means 'friendship.' Hope that's helpful.
