I believe a Section Man was in charge of a section of Rail Road. Howard Fitzpatrick
M. Shanahan: It's a man who worked on laying tracks on sections of the railroad. They worked in section gangs. I couldn't find a definition for you but here's some links: _http://railways-atlas.tapor.ualberta.ca/cocoon/atlas/Excerpts-5-2-4/_ (http://railways-atlas.tapor.ualberta.ca/cocoon/atlas/Excerpts-5-2-4/) The Section Man - poem _http://www.jstor.org/pss/1063203_ (http://www.jstor.org/pss/1063203) and Servant. Would any lister know what an 1881 census occupation record "section man" would mean. The location was Ontario Canada. Thank you M. Shanahan
I have added the following tithe applotments to the various sections of my website: Rathcoole Civil Parish, County Kilkenny Kilkieran Civil Parish, County Kilkenny Rathcool Civil Parish, County Tipperary Rathdowney Civil Parish, County Laois I have also added the townland map for the Rathcoole Civil Parish on the County Tipperary section. -- Pat Connors, Sacramento, CA http://www.connorsgenealogy.com
Isn't this neat? The Ennis Parish have not only put all their records from 1837 to 1900 online for search but you can also download both their Baptism and Marriage records. Oh, if only other parishes would follow. http://www.ennisparish.com/genealogy/ -- Pat Connors, Sacramento, CA http://www.connorsgenealogy.com

Diane, Here's the website for the Cook County Naturalization Index. If you find something, the site should give you instructions to get the documents from the Cook County Circuit Court Archives. Don't get your hopes up about obtaining much information prior to about 1915. http://198.173.15.34/NR/default.aspx Good luck! From the Archives of Ireland website: Future plans: All thirty-two counties for 1911 are now available on this site. 1901 Census material, with all data transcribed, will be launched before on 3 June 2010. The data for every county will be launched all at once rather than in tranches as with 1911. You can check out the announcement at: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/about/futureplans.html 'before on' may mean 'on or before', my guess. This is great news! -- Pat Connors, Sacramento, CA http://www.connorsgenealogy.com

The County Tipperary website on the Ireland GenWeb Project has been updated with 4 new civil parish pages and 81 new townland pages. New civil parishes added are Kilcomenty and Templeachally from the North Riding and Graystown and Killenaule form the South Riding. There are now over 1700 townland pages on the site and 99 civil parish pages. All contain links, Family History Library film numbers, surnames and other info needed in family research. If you would like to comment or add data/pictures to the site, please email me off this list. Also, I have a new computer and new to Windows 7, so you may find some mistakes. If you do, please let me know off the list. You can find the website at: http://www.irelandgenweb.com/~irltip/ -- Pat Connors, Sacramento, CA http://www.connorsgenealogy.com
Someone on another list, wrote to the Family History Library and asked them about ordering films online. Her reply had some good news. Currently on line film ordering is available in Australia, New Zealand and the British Isles. Canada will be added in the middle of this year. The US will be added at the end of the year. No set dates, they will depend on software development. I can't wait for this great service to be fully implemented in the US. It will save me a lot of time. -- Pat Connors, Sacramento, CA http://www.connorsgenealogy.com
This morning, I posted a link on the FamilySearch.org site and reported that you could order films online to go to your local Family History Center. I jumped the gun. Right now the service is only available for parts of Utah in the USA and some countries outside of the USA. Eventually, the service is suppose to expand to include all of us. The sooner the better. I am sorry for posting incorrect information. -- Pat Connors, Sacramento, CA http://www.connorsgenealogy.com

Those with Ulster ancestors and the opportunity to be in Belfast June 20 to June 26 might be interested in a genealogy class being held in conjunction with the University of Ulster.
