    1. The NARA Site: How Does One...
    2. ...navigate it? Sometime within the last few to 10 days, I clicked on an I-A-L poster's e-mail reference to the NARA site, entered the site and, to my great joy, found what I believe to be my gg-grandmother and her father, my ggg-GF, on a ship that arrived in NYC in 1843. Thought I'd bookmarked the site so I could return to it and look for my ggg-grandmother as well, but either I didn't do that or NARA has a Teflon-coated link. In any event, I can't now locate that part of NARA where arrivals are indexed by name and I can't find the I-A-L message that provided me that wonderful, but fleeting, triumphal moment of a few days ago. I did call up the NARA link below but can't find any way to retrieve the ships' passenger lists. Can someone please step me through the process or tell me the date of that e-mail? Many, many thanks. 1. Irish Guest Exhibitors - Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show, November 2004
    2. Jean R.
    3. SNIPPET: The Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show, one of the country's most prestigous events, showcases some of the best names in craft throughout the USA. The 28th annual show will be held November 4-7, 2004. On average, more than 25 thousand people attend over the four-day period. The Guest Artist Programme is an initiative which was first introduced four years ago whereby a guest country is invited to participate. This year, Ireland is the chosen county, and 23 Irish craftspeople will attend, as well as eight Irish basket makers, who will exhibit their work at the show. According to Helen LYNCH, of the Crafts Council of Ireland, the Philadelphia show is a very exciting opportunity for many of the group to establish a name for themselves in the USA. During the course of the show, some of the artists will have an opportunity to demonstrate their craft. These displays are very popular and well attended by the public. Selected Irish participants include jewellers, woodturners, ceramic artists, workers in textiles, stained glass and rug makers. Having seen the quality and calibre of the exhibitors, the Crafts Council is predicting that the Irish contingent will take the show by storm. The Art Craft Show is presented annually by the Women's Committee and Craft Show Committee for the benefit of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Funds raised are used to purchase works of art and crafts for the permanent collections, to fund conservation and publication projects and to support future exhibitions and education programs. Gross sales for the artists average 3 million dollars each year.. .

    3. I just tried and got an error message but it did go to NARA. I looked again at the URL and believe I found the problem. The URL takes up two lines. The second line is black as it was broken off from the rest. You need to copy and paste the whole URL into your address bar to make it work. The part missing is immigration.html http://www.archives.gov/research_room/genealogy/research_topics/immigration.html I did not see the original message so maybe it was all together before and just split in the reply. ----- Original Message ----- From: Frank Gebhart <frankge@sprintmail.com> Date: Friday, September 3, 2004 2:32 pm Subject: Re: [Irish-American] Fwd: NARA: Immigrant Border Crossing Cards > hmmmm....NARA can't find this URL! > > Dan Hogan wrote: > > > > > > Begin forwarded message: > > > >> > >> > > > >> Canadian Crossing Cards and Irish Famine > >> Crossing Cards: > >> > >> > http://www.archives.gov/research_room/genealogy/research_topics/ > >> immigration.html > >> > >> Danielle Brown > >> dtxn@yahoo.com > > > > > > > > ==== IRISH-AMERICAN Mailing List ==== > > The IRISH-AMERICAN Mailing List Website and Lookup Service > > http://www.connorsgenealogy.com/IrishAmerican/ > > Use this to unsub, change your subscription, links, etc. > > > > > > > ==== IRISH-AMERICAN Mailing List ==== > The IRISH-AMERICAN Mailing List Website and Lookup Service > http://www.connorsgenealogy.com/IrishAmerican/ > Use this to unsub, change your subscription, links, etc. > >
