SNIPPET: An emigrant from King's Co, Ireland (Offaly) - Patrick Bernard DELANY (1845-1924) became one of the most important contributors to the rapidly developing field of telegraphy. He eventually held dozens of patents for inventions and improvements in telegraph technology, including a synchronous, multiplex telegraph that permitted up to six messages to be sent simultaneously on a single wire.
