Dear Wonderful Listers..... In the last few months (late at night) I managed to get to my computer, read my mail and post messages. I received so many responses to my requests and queries and I truly appreciate each and every one of them. I know the time and effort it took to do a look-up or even just respond with some valuable information. I tried to send a thank you for each one, but have had a nagging feeling that I may have overlooked someone. I have been very tired when I open my mail at night, as I have been caring for my sick (cancer) husband here at home and only when he is down for the night did I have a few minutes to go to my computer. He passed away two weeks ago and I have had time to start getting more rest. But it has been during these "rest"eriods when I feel that I may have slipped up on my "thank you's" to some kind soul. Please know that if you e-mailed me and I did not respond with a thank you..it was not out of indifference or rudeness, but rather sleeplessness. So please accept my very grateful appreciation now. Regards Michelle Wilson micpaint@pshift.com

Hello all, It's been awhile since I've posted my interests, so here they are... KIRK, Michael (born 1773 in Ireland) and his wife, Margaret (b.1790 IRL). Their tombstone says Connaught, Ireland. They emigrated to Ste. Sophie, Quebec, Canada before 1828 (when James was born) with their children (birth order unknown): John (b.1811 IRL), Michael, Mary, and Nancy. Their son, James, was born in Quebec in 1828. We believe another son, Edward, went to New Zealand. They were Roman Catholic. Oral history suggests they may have come from Sligo, but no records were found at the Sligo Heritage Centre. Locations of BDM records in Quebec, Canada: Ste. Sophie New Glasgow Ste-Anne des Plaines St. Louis de Terrebonne/Terrebonne St. Lin St. Jerome St. Janvier [Anyone else researching in these areas?] Would love to know where they came from in Ireland. Thanks for any help, Margaret kirkm@teleport.com KIRK/SCULLY (MULLEN), REID/TAHANY MEEHAN/SAVAGE>QUINLAN, TONER/KEARNEY>MURRAY, IRVING
Does anyone know where I could find out about a wedding announcement that took place in Dublin that took place on Sept. 15th 1897? I need to find out if there was one and if so how to get a copy or a printout of it. Thank you Michelle - VT
could anyone tell me if there is a specific place in Ireland where I could look to see if there are any Irish Knighthoods. My grandfather claimed the right to use the title "sir" in front of his name and also had an onyx sealing wax seal with "the family crest" on it, but claimed that they dropped the title when they came to the US because it had no imprtance here and was in fact regarded as being "pretentious". The knighthood was supposedly bestowed upon a member of the family in conncetion with a shipping line between Australia and Edinborough. I paid to have a search done at the College of Arms in London but the Farley's that had attained knighthood in England had no connection with my family. The recommended I check the other members of the UK to see if they were listed there. I am trying to find an address or e-mail address for hwerever I would write in Australia, Scotland. Any help[ would be apprecioated. I would like to either confirm or debunk this family myth. MIchelle-VT.
THE WILD COLONIAL BOY There was a wild colonial boy Jack Duggan was his name He was born and raised in Ireland In a house called Castlemain He was his father's only son His mother's pride and joy And dearly did his parents love Their Wild Colonial Boy. At the early age of sixteen years He left his native home And to Australia's sunny shores He was inclined to roam He robbed the rich to help the poor He shot James MacEvoy. A terror to Australia was That Wild Colonial Boy. One day upon the prairie As Jack he rode along A-listening to the mocking birds Singing their cheerful song Out jumped a band of troopers Kelly, Davis and Fitzroy They all set out to capture him That Wild Colonial Boy. Surrender now Jack Duggan For you see we're three to one Surrender in the Queen's high name You are a plundering son Jack drew two pistols from his belt And proudly waved them high I'll fight but not surrender Said the Wild Colonial Boy. He fired a shot at Kelly Which brought him to the ground. And turning round to Davis He received a fatal wound. A bullet pierced his proud young heart >From the pistol of Fitzroy. And that was how they captured him The Wild Colonial Boy. -- One of several versions
Unbelievably, my Norton's antivirus protection identified this genuine-appearing E-mail (with a bogus address) as having an virus! It talks about virus protection, Outlook Express, etc., but please do not open the attachment! Note -- I don't like to send virus warnings nor receive them, but I would hate anyone to have expensive repairs. It is easy to spot the goofy ones, but this one looks "official" - hence the warning.
I am seeking information on my G-Great Grandparents Denis Connolly, born about 1846 and Ellen Harrington. As far as I know they came from the Beara Peninsula in Cork, in the area of Glenera, near the town of Allihies. Their daughter, my Great-Grandmother Ellen was born about 1866 in Ireland. She came to the U.S. as a very small child, with her uncle, her parents remained in Ireland, so I've been told. The family settled in Massachusetts. Is this familiar to anyone? Paula
Hi Cindy, I am researching the GRAHAM and CRAWFORD families in the area of Ballinamallard and Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh. I have Mary Crawford Shane married John Graham 1841. They had children Elizabeth born 1842, Margaret Crawford born 1847 in Drumbrockney, Benmore Parish, John Sydney born 1849 and Mary. There was another son, name unknown as yet, said to have farmed at Pettigo. Margaret Crawford Graham, my great grandmother married James Morrison from townland of Conor, Ballinamallard. I realize none of these names match yours but perhaps it gives you an area to look. Who knows, there may be a connection somewhere. Good Luck. Cynthia, Calgary, Alberta.

Hi list, Looking for information on a James and Phebe Graham. Had a son born in Ireland named Charles, born around 1846 and another son, George, possibly born in Ireland. They immigrated to the US, possibly New York, around 1846 where another son, Crawford, was born. Don't know if they had any daughters. Eventually they settled in London, Ontario, Canada. I ordered the 1871 census book from Canada about two weeks ago. Not sure if it has been sent yet since there is a strike going on involving the Ontario Archives. Was hoping this census report would fill in a few more blanks. Sorry I don't know where in Ireland they're from. Any information at all would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Cindy Mississippi Gulf Coast USA
Reposting my interest in William MILLS, born 1842, Dungannon, Co. Tyrone, Ireland. He was the son of William Mills and Eliza WARD. He settled in Renfrew, Ontario by 1873 and married 1.
