-------- Original Message -------- Subject: THOMAS and CATHERINE COOK MURRAY and daughter MARY JANE MURRAY Date: Sat, 3 May 2003 20:22:27 -0600 From: "Theresa Assande" <[email protected]> To: [email protected] I have been searching for information on my great great grandfather THOMAS MURRAY and his wife CATHERINE COOK MURRAY for at least five years and have yet to find a birthplace in Ireland or a date of birth for either one. THOMAS MURRAY owned a glass factory in Ireland. So therefore, he must have lived in a coastal location since sand was necessary for its production. At one point, I thought that they came from Galway, but now I am not so sure. Since, the only child I know of, Mary Jane Murray was born in August of 1861, I am guessing they were born between + or - 1825 to 1845. MARY JANE MURRAY born August 1861, was ready to be married, her banns were announced and her wedding dress made, when she eloped with another man (PATRICK GRAHAM) in 1877 or 1878. As a result, MARY'S family disowned her because they felt "she married beneath her station". MARY MURRAY GRAHAM and her husband PATRICK GRAHAM had 14 children. Three were born in Ireland. JOHN GRAHAM born February 1879, MARY JANE born about + or - 1880 and died at age 2 in Ireland and CELIA GRAHAM born any where between 1878 and 1890. The rest of the children were born in N.Y.C., U.S.A. I am hoping someone can give me help or suggestions. Any help would be gratefully accepted! Thank You, Theresa
Hi Theresa, I'm sure you probably already know this; however, there is a crystal factory in Galway, and it is not uncommon for similar businesses to be in the same area - just a suggestion, but have you thought about sending an e-mail to Galway Crystal and asking about early businesses and history?? This is their website: http://www.galwaycrystal.ie/flash.htm - if you can't access using that, just type "galway crystal" into your browser. They had a great tour there and lots of history. Their e-mail is: [email protected] Regards, Robin ----- Original Message ----- From: Dick Mc To: [email protected] Sent: May 3, 2003 8:44 PM Subject: [IRL~ROOTS] [Fwd: THOMAS and CATHERINE COOK MURRAY and daughter MARY JANE MURRAY] -------- Original Message -------- Subject: THOMAS and CATHERINE COOK MURRAY and daughter MARY JANE MURRAY Date: Sat, 3 May 2003 20:22:27 -0600 From: "Theresa Assande" <[email protected]> To: [email protected] I have been searching for information on my great great grandfather THOMAS MURRAY and his wife CATHERINE COOK MURRAY for at least five years and have yet to find a birthplace in Ireland or a date of birth for either one.
