Hello, I was hoping someone can tell me why I can not find information on my great grandfather, Walter Flack. He was born on November 30, 1885, in Dromore, Down, Ireland. I have been all over the LDS site and ancestry.com. Then last Thursday I went to our local family history center and their index for births for Ireland had an "*" in the space for births from 1882-1889, and a notation that said "This genealogical society does not have records for these years" Do they not exist? Or is there a place I have not checked yet? I am hoping there is a great magical site that lists all BMD's for this county, as I have many ancesters from there, VBG. Any help anyone can give me is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much Lisa Wagner Researching: Flack Martin Mahood Lyle Castle Bannatyne

Perhaps it is a case of an Unregistered birth or perhaps he was not registered as Walter .......lots of things make things hard to find people in Ireland there lack of concern about registration for one ........ The way people wrote things down Its a series of things that make it a twisted maze to chase these ancestors down and locate them dont give up someone has the answer some where. cheers cara ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, November 17, 2002 12:03 PM Subject: [IRL~ROOTS] Birth Records for 1885? > Hello, > > I was hoping someone can tell me why I can not find information on my great > grandfather, Walter Flack.
