    3. Thanks Cara, My mom's family were McILVAIN'S. Some of them spelled it McILWAIN'S. I recall hearing that they were from Co. Cork. The 1900 census says her grandfather Charles McILWAIN came to US in 1871. My dad was a McCAULEY. His Gr. grandfather, Francis McCAULLEY who was born in Ireland spelled it McCaulley. His eldest son was born in the US in 1867. His wife Annie REILLY was also born in Ireland. don't know whether they married here or in Ireland. Family tradition says the McCAULEY's were from Donegal. I know that the McILVAIN's really frowned on the marriage because they believed my mom was marring beneath her social class. My aunt ( the family matriah) called the McIlvain's "lace- curtain" and the Mccauley's "Shanty-Irish" . She also said that the Mccauley's were from the north. She never liked my dad because of his family background.another grandfather Thomas BRADY immagrated in 1885. All were said to have entered thru the port of Phila. Mary ANDERSON Dtr of Roger Anderson & Catherine Dunn. She was in america in 1882. Annie McCAFFERTY dtr of William She married Charles McGEE both immigrated to America in 1850. don't know if the marriage was in Ireland or US. I haven't tried to get any information from Ireland yet since I don't know where to start. Any help would be appreciated.
