I am fairly new to genealogy so please bare with me. My grandfather was Patrick James McCarthy, born 1887 in Columbia County, New York State, USA. My ggrandparents were James E McCarthy and Jane (Jennie) A Higgins also born in New York State, USA. Now my question, how do I find where my gggrandparents Patrick McCarthy, Catherine Horan, Patrick Higgins and Kate Hughes were born? All the paperwork I have just say Ireland as place of birth. Where do I go from here? Everyone who could answer these questions are deceased. At an early age, I might add.
