Hello all, My interests lie with the STEVENSON line of Northern Ireland. Samuel STEVENSON (b.abt 1804) married Susannah LINDIN (b.abt 1804) on 2 Jan 1824 in Northern Ireland. They emigrated to Canada in 1831 They had a total of 12 children: 1. John, b.21 March 1825 (Ireland) (or 1823), d.4 Sep 1843 (Buried at Cumberland, Ontario, Canada). 2. James, b.28 May 1826 (Ireland), d. 28 April 1849 (Buried at Cumberland, Ontario Canada). 3. Samuel, b.12 Jan 1829 (Ireland), d.1 May 1831 (likely while immigrating -- buried at sea). 4. Agnes, b.8 Nov 1830 (Ireland), d.6 May 1831 (likely while immigrating -- buried at sea). 5. Agnes, b.11 July 1832, d.6 May 1849 (Buried at Cumberland, Ontario, Canada). 6. Samuel, b.10 July 1835, d.21 Dec 1860 (Buried at Cumberland, Ontario, Canada). 7. Robert, b.25 June 1837, d.abt 7 Aug 1837 (Buried at Cumberland, Ontario, Canada).. 8. Robert, b.28 July 1838, d.28 Nov 1922 (Buried at Chilliwack, BC, Canada). 9. Mary Ann, b.14 Nov 1840, d.6 Aug 1853 (Buried at Cumberland, Ontario, Canada). 10. John, b.1 Feb 1844, d.31 Dec 1919 (Buried at Quesnel, BC, Canada). 11. William Alexander, b.14 May 1846, d.16 Oct 1870 (supposedly in Michigan -- Buried at Cumberland, Ontario, Canada). 12. James, b.5 Jan 1850, d.unknown (Buried at unknown). Their son, Robert (b.1838), is my GGgrandfather. In an interview with the BC Saturday Sunset, issued on 1 July 1911, Stevenson gives a very brief history of the lineage of his family: "I was born in Williamstown, Glengarry County, Canada, and when I attained the age of five, my father purchased a farm at Vankleek Hill, where I received my early education. I was born of stiff Scotch-Irish stock, the head of the family being Colonel Stevenson, who came over to Ireland with King William in 1690, and who after the trouble received his colonel's portion of a square Irish mile, 25 miles from Belfast." Should anyone out there have any information on the ancestry of Samuel STEVENSON and/or Susannah LINDIN, I would love to hear from you. Thanks. Sincerely, Andrew Smith, BHK.
