Can anyone tell me what was happening then,my gggg grandfather,James Hartley was born there in 1765,his brother William a seaman in 1761,there sister Janet in 1773,possibly farming people in 1795 they are all found in Newton Stewart Penningham Wigton. James was the head of the family at a farm called Drumdee Mochrum,he married Margaret Thomson,William and there sister Janet settled in Hillhead. What we don't know in where in Ireland they came from,and why they left Ireland in the first place,what was Ireland like in say 1790/5. Thanks John
