    3. Hello I would be delighted to hear from anyone who has connections to Hugh GREEN born Ireland ca 1794 who died in Howard Town, Glossop South, Derbyshire in 1855. Occupation 1855 was beer seller.. He had been a hawker in Stockport, Traveller in Macclesfield before living in Howard Town. I have no idea where he was born but his niece Margaret WATTS daughter of Sara Ann (GREEN) and Elijah WATTS was born in Crumlin in 1871 so ther e may be a slim chance the GREEN family came from that area. Any help would be much appreciated. Magdalen in South Africa

    3. Hello, I have come upon a brick wall with an ancestor and hope SKS will be able to apply a sledgehammer. Catherine Byrne was born in County Kildare C1820. At the age of 19 after stealing some bed clothes, she was convicted at a trial held in Dublin on 3rd June 1839. She was sentenced to 7 years transportation to Australia. I have been through all the transportation records to see if I can find a town of origin, with no luck - this has become my brick wall. Is it possible someone may be able to find her in the census records?. She married William Reed (another convict) in Australian in 1841 and then between child Number 10 and 11, she changed her name to Sarah Reed (nee Kennedy) I suspect it was around the time when the government introduced registrations of births (possibly to ensure the stigma of being a convict didn't follow her in the records ?) She was still married to William Reed and children born after that date had Sarah Reed (nee Kennedy) as the mother on the records. She died as Sarah Reed.. This begs the question as to whether her parents John Kennedy and Mary McDonald as stated on her death certficate are really John BYRNE and Mary McDonald. I wondered did she just alter her dad's name in keeping with the change of her name or are ALL the names ficticious??. I've tried to find using both sets of names with no luck. And so I open my dilemma to those knowledgeable in this area in the hope that this can be resolved. I have been unable to go back any further as I have no indication of any siblings. Perhaps if I list her childrens' names, these could be also family names. They are: William, Edward, George, Mary, Joseph, Catherine, Maria, Charles, Sarah, James, Henry and John. Any help will be very much appreciated. Cheers Janine South Australia.
