    3. Well, I'll run this up the flagpole, Ailsa, and let someone take a pot shot at it. Is ADGEY an Irish name? Could it be instead Agee, a French Huguenot name that was introduced into England at the time of the Glorious Revolution? 1. My brickwall....
    2. Ailsa Barnes
    3. Hi Listers, I wonder if anyone can give me any advice about my Irish ancestors. My 3rd G. Grandfather, Robert ADGEY, was born circa 1812. He was in Liverpool in 1833 when he married, until his death in 1887. The family roots are firmly embedded in Liverpool from then on. I have Robert on all census returns during his lifetime, sometimes his place of birth is Liverpool and sometimes it is Ireland. I am assuming Ireland is correct, because if he had no connection with the place then it would be a bit weird to put it as his place of birth. I have no idea WHERE in Ireland he was from. There are a family of Adgey's from Antrim in Ireland, but I have not be able to make any connection between this family and my family, although the must be some connection somewhere. I think that he is from the family in Ireland, came (alone?) to Liverpool maybe for work, and then settled here - but I have absolutely no evidence to back this up! Any advice or suggestions on how to progress from here would be very much appreciated. Kind Regards, Ailsa Barnes

    3. Well, the other problem is that I don't know the original name, so I don't know whether we're Havilands, as in the ones from England and the China, or Havlin, or what. Until I can trace back John and Ann "Havlin", born around 1780 in Ireland, and Roger and Cecilia "Havlin", born at the same time in Ireland (their daughter Ann married John, the son of John and Ann Havlin), I don't know how to proceed any further, even to find out what the name originally was. It changes in records from one spelling to another. When I started searching on the internet I was firmly informed that there were NONE of THE Havilands from Ireland, but I keep finding listings in the census for them all over the place, so I refuse to dismiss the possibility. Anyway, that's where I'm at. On my mother's side I have a surplus of Taylors in England to sort through..the same story..George, son of Thomas Taylor, married Mary, daughter of John Taylor..but at least I have their birthplaces...Linda H.

    1. Dunne Family research
    2. Hi... is anyone doing research on the Dunne Family. I have many relatives that came from the Edenderry-Rhode - Portarlington Area of County Offaly. Would be happy to share information...and hopefully match. My great great grandfather was John Dunne and his wife was Mary. Their known siblings were: my great grandfather Patrick, John, Bishop of Wicannia, William, Michael, Mary and Brigid. Mary may have married an Egan(Eagan) and Brigid may have married a Rigney. Brigid's daughter married a Grogan. This is some of the information I have. If it looks familiar to anyone please respond. Would love to share information. Regards Tony & Joann USA

    2. Hi Listers I've now been researching my family tree for about two years now but have brickwalled on both my father's and mother's lines at about 1800 when I reach my Irish ancestors. I do know that my dad's side, the MCKAYS hailed from Armagh and I have been in contact with the records office there who unfortunately did not come up with any information. Can SKS out there point me in the right direction to find out more about how to research my Irish ancestors. I also know that my GG grandmother came from Derry. The names I'm researching are:- MCKAY: MCMANUS: MOLLOY;REILLY: SLAVEN: FLINN; AND GALLACHER

    1. QUINN / McDEAD birth, marriage
    2. Janice Anderson
    3. Being new I hope I have chosen the correct Ireland Mailing List. The data I have so far from U.S. are from census records, an immigration record and one found at genealogybranches.com. and are not very accurate and conflict some what. Any information regarding this family when they lived in Ireland would be a wonderful help. I have only spent about a month now searching internet sites in Ireland and find there are dozens more to search. The name QUINN is common but McDEAD seems to be very rare. My Irish ancestors: BERNARD QUINN born between 1825 and 1831 Ireland Wife: SUSANNAH McDEAD born 3-17-1839 Ireland First child: THOMAS born 7-12-1852 Prescott, Ontario, Canada I do have their Canadian records, both census and baptism of their 13 children. / An immigration record shows a Bernard and Susan Quinn (with other members) leaving Londenberry to Pennsylvania, Quebec and New Brunswick in 1852. The tickets were purchased in May, 1852. Am not sure yet if this is our Quinn family. There was also an IGI for the marriage of Bernard Quin Aug. 4, 1843 and a Susan McDead Aug. 4, 1843. Again the dates appear too early but then the birth dates on the census are also out of line. That IGI record was not found at familysearch.org but from either genealogybranches or eneclann.ie. Have tried to relocate it but so far am lost in the web of links. Thank you for any help. Jan A. U.S.A. camelot2@citlink.net
