I'm looking to find the Switzers that came to Canada through Quebec in the 1820s, from Ireland. In particular: Micheal Switzer b. Abt 1790-1800 and his wife Julia Ann (Hurst) Switzer b. Abt 1800 Son born in Lower Canada (Quebec) 1822, John Switzer and his brothers and sisters born in Upper Canada (Ontario) Is there a list of some sort of all the Irish that migrated to Canada through Quebec? Rebecca
Hi there everybody!! I need some help. I'm in Toronto-Canada, and have come across a woman and am at a brickwall so far, with researching her. Here's what I've got! Margret Feltis, b. Abt 1812 Ireland. Came to Canada about 1830's, and was married in York County, Toronto May 31st, 1839 to Joseph Stoneham. She is Listed as a Seamstress and Milliner in some Census', in Canada. She moved to Simcoe County in Ontario and there are two other Feltis families in this area. James and Henry Feltis...they don't seem to be as old as she is. I know Feltis isn't a very common name. I am crossing my fingers and hoping with all my might...that there is some sort of General Ireland Directories for back in 1812 -1820 or something, that might perhaps help me. Or someone will be researching this family too, and have a match of sorts....Or perhaps an early birth index (wishful thinking, I know).... Help?!! Rebecca Stoneham-Moore (*researching Stoneham-Switzer-Feltis)

The place name may possibly be connected with County Louth or that general area. Can SKS help identify which place this might be? It has not turned up in the Index to Townlands, etc. nor on a simple Internet search. Could some SKS be able to check census records for the family name CROCOCK.. It is my understanding that possibley a William or Guilelmus Crocock was born about 1851. There may be an Edward Crocock marrying a Julia ? Would it be possible to check 1841, 1851 and 1861 records. Any Crocock(Crowcock) information would be most helpful. Thanks in advance Charlene Herbert Ontario Canada

My ancestor was Samuel HAGAN born Oct. 1, 1794 in parish Kilroote, Co. Antrim,Ireland, died Apr. 8, 1859 in Dungannon, Ont. Can. He married Margaret MCDONALD born Apr. 4, 1801 in Ireland. Their 1st son James Henry was born Feb. 12, 1820 in Belfast. Their other children were all born in Carrickfergus, including Margaret b. 1822, Elizabeth b. 1824, Samuel b. 1828, Elizabeth Jane b. 1830, Jane b. 1832, Robert McDonald b. 1833 , Samuel b. 1840 and Mary (or Margaret) b. ? Samuel and Margaret emigrated with their surviving family about 1844 to Huron Co. Ontario. I have no other record of them in Ireland but wonder if there could be a connection with our two families. They were Church of England in Co. Antrim, but were Presbyterian after coming to Canada. James Hagan and some others of his family changed their name to HAGEN after emigrating, although Samuel Sr. did not. Some people feel that this was because they were originally Dutch, having gone to Ireland with William of Orange. There is no proof for this belief, that I know of. Hoping to hear from you if you think there might be a connection. Bye for now. Doreen Guerriero

Hi list Could someone please help me with Rose Maloney, she had two sisters Nellie and Tilly(Matilda?) and two brothers Tommy and Lou. All born (I think) in the late 1800s. Rose was 93 when she died in the early 1970s. I think she may have been the eldest girl but don't actually know for sure. Stella
Barb: Records of that period are scarce, to say the least. Here are some websites you might want to access that could give you some information: Irish Origins - Genealogy data for family history research in Ireland Irish Surname Search and Genealogy FamilySearch Internet - Search According to MacLysaght's "The Surnames of Ireland": CROSBIE. This English toponymic was adopted by a family of MacCrossan of Leix who espoused the English cause and migrated to Kerry in the seventeenth century. I hope this helps. Carol Granville

Could any kind soul do a look up for me on the HAGAN ancestors of mine in Ireland please? I have come to a dead end on the HAGAN family and need to know if there were more siblings left in Ireland to assist in further searches. Father and Mother: Thomas HAGAN married Hannah MARLEY in 1814 in Co Armagh. Thomas was reported to be an Overseer on the Ulster Canal. Son: James HAGAN travelled to Australia as in: Arrived on the 'Mandarin' in Sydney in 19 October 1838 with wife Sarah (nee LESTER) with sons William and James. They came to Australia as bounty passengers as in paid to travel to Australia and settle here. Changed their name to EGAN on arrival in SYDNEY. Can anyone look up information on Thomas HAGAN James HAGAN B 1815 Co Tyrone Hannah MARLEY Sarah LESTER born Parish Killala Co Armagh b 30 Sep 1814 and married in 1835 to James. Were their any siblings for any of these people? Would be much appreciated and would do any lookup in Australia in return. Sue Egan
It may take a few days Joy but I will get back to you. Betty
Thank You Betty, for trying to look him up. I do not have a birthdate on him. His son, Philip, was born 1826. The Reverand was educated in Glasgow in 1812 and was married to Sarah Moody in 1819. The Rev died at Sany Hill, Tandrage on Aug 31st, 1860. I hope this helps. Thank You again. ---Joy [email protected] wrote: >Hi Joy, just checking on Ancestry.com for Rev. Nora, Thank you for trying to look him up. Did you just type Robert Morrison? Also try and type in his wife's name, Sarah Moody. If that doesn't work, type in Philip Morrison, or William Moody. If nothing comes up from that, then don't worry about it. It was very nice of you to try anyway. Thank You again.---Joy [email protected] wrote: >Joy > >I have a subscription to Ancestry.Com but I'm not sure where you want me to >look. Hi Joy, just checking on Ancestry.com for Rev. Robert Morrison (when the Rev. is added in, the results are 0 but when it is dropped there are a few leads). I have come up with this one born September 12,1835. A date would be helpful. Betty G
Dear Joy ................Did a quick search on Robert Morrison from County Armagh and there is lots of info. Will get back to you later with more on this. Time doesn't permit a complete search at the moment. [email protected] Betty Goldstein
