I found when I got XP, a lot of CD's or programs are not compatible that I used for Windows 98. What you need to do is find the upgrade/patch for the program to make it compatible with XP. Most programs have supplied the necessary upgrade/patches to make your Windows 98 programs work with XP because it would be too expensive to replace all the programs you have. What program does the CD use to view the CD? Then go from there and find the upgrade or patch that is needed. Word of warning, some programs do not have upgrades or patches because they want you to buy the updated version. Hope this help you. Hi Debbie, it is very nice of you to offer your help. I would be obliged to know if you come across any GEBBIE/GEBBY/GABBEY names, they do vary a bit in spelling. My great great great grandfather, Abner Kelly, was born in Ireland in approximately 1780. He left Ireland in 1810 to come to America. he and Mrs. Kelly, my great great great grandmother, the former Miss Gunter (We don't know her name) died en-route at sea of yellow fever, according to family legend. Their children Abner Baxter Kelly (1807-1885) and William Joseph Kelly, survived the trip. Is there anyone who can help me find what part of Ireland my relatives came from? Debbie, I have been told the Killoran's come from Down, Sligo and Roscommon area. Sometimes the name is spelled Killorin and Killoren. When ever you have time, if you come across that name on your CD, would be greatful for a holler. Thankyou, Happy Turkey Day. Mark Killoran --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Is it possible to apple to a central birth death and marriage office, if you dont know the exact date or place of death. Would they have an alphabetical index that they could look up say a ten year period. This is what we have in Australia , and just wondered if it was the same in Ireland Kaye Vernon See the first program in new Irish Series on genealogy at www.bananatv.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "LEWIS PATRICIA C." <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, November 20, 2002 8:38 AM Subject: [IRL~ROOTS] birth and other registrations records > To Whom It May Concern: > > NOT all people were registered regardless of civil registration for all > that went into effect in 1864. Hello, I am not sure if you can get other counties for Ireland. I purchased this CD from www.ancestry.com. I do know that there carry a lot of CD's though so you might get lucky. Just for the record I paid 10.00 for this CD on sale. You may have to pay more to get the specific CD you are looking for. I do want to let everyone know that there are a lot of resources out there that are free to get into. This is the only CD that I have purchased in my genealogy quest. I started with a handful of names and now I have over 2500 names in my books. One of the best resources out there is cousins. You would be AMAZED at how many people in your familys are actually doing the same thing you are. So in closing, Good Luck everyone. Hi Debbie, I can see that you have a lot of requests for lookups. I hope that I might add my request to that very long list... My Ancesters came from Down Ireland to Newcastle upon Tyne about 1837 as best as I can determine. They were Robert(1807) and Frances(1802) ALEXANDER along with 4 children Matthew(1826), Sarah(1829), James(1833) and Robert(1836). If you find the time I would be most grateful if you might look for any of these individuals. Dear List, I am trying to find my gr. gr. grandmother Helen Broadley/Bradley who according to a gr. aunt was born in Ireland. All I know about her is her name and her address at the time of my gr. grandmother's birth (illegimate) in Clyde, Glasgow, 1862. I got the address from my gr. grandmother's registration of birth. The address given was 83 New Wynd in Clyde, Glasgow, so I checked the 1861 census for that address, Helen Broadley/Bradley was not present but at that exact address there was an Owen Bradley married, age 32 and born in Ireland. So I am assuming that Helen and Owen are related. I checked the rest of the microfilm but did not find Helen anywhere, I also checked the 1871 and 1881 census for Clyde, Glasgow without any luck finding either Helen or Owen. I checked Scots Origins for a marriage for Owen and didn't find one, so I guess he was married in Ireland somewhere. With so little information to go on I would appreciate any suggestions as to how to proceed in this search for my very elusive ancestors. Sincerely, Carol Deckers
