Hi Phyllis, I have been thinking, you have something to work on. Sarah died in Chorlton, Lancs. in 1868 - it would be worth having a look at the 1861 census for Chorlton and see who was at home with her, from that you can work out ages and be able to get birth certificates. If you find them in Chorlton at that time it might be worth having a gamble and looking at 1851 and 184l, you might get lucky and find out about the children. If they did stay in the same place you might then pick up the church they were baptised and married in. It would also be worth looking at the IGI once you have found them on the census. The IGI cannot be relied upon to be correct, it is built up from information collected and not verified. I have just had another thought which I will check out for you. I will be back in a minute. Hi Phyllis, sorry the brain was not in gear - of course you would not have a marriage certificate because they didn't come in until 1837. So what part of England did she come from any idea? Dear Debbie, Thank you for your offer to the list to look up parish records for Co. Antrim, Co. Down and Co. Louth, and I would love to take you up on your offer if it is still okay. Samuel MANN arrived in Sydney, Australia as a convict in 1834, and Elizabeth and their three children (Margaret, William and Jane) followed him out shortly afterwards. Hi Phyllis, nice to hear from you. One of my husbands family married into the Clements family. I have been advertising the fact and out of the blue the other day I got a connection, which was most interesting, we found the black sheep of the family! A chap wrote to me saying he was connected to the Clements through marriage, and gave a little pile of information. I will look at what I have from him and see if there is a connection so far. All the Clements in our connection came from Co. Down. Do you have a marriage date/certificate for Sarah, that would be useful because we would know her fathers name. Our connected Clements went to England in the early 1900s in and around the Manchester area. Let me know what else you can tell me. Dear Beryl, I am not a doctor but I am interested in the surname of Clements . my 2gr-grandmother was a Sarah Clements married to a Robert Campbell in Cty down.I have tried to find info on her and all I could find was she was English and born in abt 1800 and married at sixteen years old. Hi there everyone, Is there anyone who could tell if there is anywhere on line I could search for a doctor who had a practice in the 1940s in Lancashire. I am reasearching the names AXON/ GEBBIE (VARIOUS SPELLINGS) AND CLEMENTS. Will be happy to share information and look forward to hearing from anyone researching these names. All came from the Belfast, Newtownards, Ballyblack areas and other parts of County Down. Beryl
Debbie, just a small request. Could you possibly find a listing for a Morris (Maurice) Powers b 1844 in Ireland. I don't know where or who his parents were but I do know there was a brother Edward. I don't know if Edward is older or younger though. I do know that sometime between 1844 and 1880 he came to New York state where his daughter was born. Vicki
Good morning to everyone, I hope that someone out there may be able to help me with a query. I am reseraching the family of my great-great-grandmother, Lucinda CUDMORE EGGERS, and I have recently been fortunate enough to view a copy of the marriage certificate of Lucinda's brother, Horatio, who was married in Co. Galway, Ireland, in 1846. Horatio Nelson CUDMORE EGGERS (aged 21) married Jane Hannah CURRY (aged 20) at Ballinasloe, in the parish of Kilclooney, Co. Galway, on 19 November 1846. Both Horatio and Jane were resident of Ballinasloe at the time of their marriage, and Horatio was a printer by trade (his father, Paul CUDMORE EGGERS, of Roscrea, Co. Tipperary, was also a printer/compositor.) Jane's father was William CURRY, a coach agent. The witnesses to the marriage were Margaret Ann CURRY and Patrick Augustus EGAN. If anyone has any information on Horatio and Jane CUDMORE EGGERS (nee CURRY), and their descendants (if there were any), I would be most grateful to hear about them ! Dear Debbie You are absolutely fantastic!! Thank you so much for that information it's given me something to go on anyway! I'm looking for William McBRIDE but I don't know who his parents were or even when he was born. If I could have all of the McBride listings (greedy aren't I!?) then I could just work through them - I'd really appreciate it. Do you have any lookups I could maybe do for you in New Zealand?
